Advantages of laser hair removal:

  • Permanent effects – after a series of treatments, complete hair removal is possible.
  • Safety – modern devices minimize the risk of irritation.
  • Reduced treatment time – laser technology allows for quick and effective hair removal, even on large body surfaces.
  • Reducing the number of ingrown hairs – unlike mechanical hair removal, the laser does not damage the skin, reducing the risk of inflammation.

Contraindications to laser hair removal

Although laser hair removal is a safe and effective treatment, there are certain contraindications that may preclude the procedure. The most important contraindications include:

  1. Pregnancy and breastfeeding – the procedure may cause discomfort, and hormonal changes may affect the effectiveness of the procedure.
  2. Active skin infections in the treatment area, such as herpes, bacterial and fungal skin infections.
  3. Fresh tan – the treatment is not recommended for skin exposed to strong sunlight or solarium exposure in the last two weeks.
  4. Use of photosensitizing medications – some medications, including antibiotics (e.g., tetracyclines), retinoids, and other photosensitizing medications, may increase the risk of burns. Treatment should only be performed after discontinuing these medications.
  5. Skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema or vitiligo may preclude the procedure.
  6. Tendency to develop scars and keloids – people with a tendency to develop scars may have an increased risk of adverse reactions.
  7. Pacemakers and other electronic implants – laser operation may be affected by the presence of electronic devices in the body.
  8. Cancer – people with a history of or active cancer should consult a doctor before deciding on laser hair removal.
  9. Diabetes – Uncontrolled diabetes can affect skin healing and increase the risk of infection.
